WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Jayden Blockley 2018 James Morrison Scholarship Winner Jayden Blockley has just commenced his final year at the James Morrison Academy of Music at Uni SA, where he is reminded daily of his 2018 accolade. "At Uni, we have a board which lists all of the scholarship winners over the years, and it's crazy for me to see my name next to Troy Roberts, Mat Jodrell, Jamie Oehlers and many others," he says. "Many of them are musical heroes of mine, and I use it to motivate myself, so that I might eventually feel like my name belongs up there - and one day, I might be someone else's musical inspiration, because that would mean the world to me." Jayden has been playing gigs back home in Perth in between his studies, and in July, he'll head to ABC Melbourne to record an album as part of his scholarship prize. "I came to GIJ as a high school student three times before I was a scholarship finalist, and I remember watching the adjudications and dreaming that I could one day be up there. If you'd told me back then that I'd win it, I wouldn't have believed you.
